Guidelines for writing a review

Please follow the Golden Rule when submitting reviews and comments. Ask yourself: how would I feel if I saw these comments published about me on this website? If you had an unsatisfactory experience, please be objective, truthful and civil in describing your experience. Remember: our goal is to help local residents and visitors find the best of Warrenton, and that is where we want to focus attention on this site.

The most helpful reviews are short and to the point (about 100 words or less). They describe the facts of your own personal experience. Write as if you were talking to a friend, telling them what you liked best and why you would recommend this business or provider to others.

Reviews like this are too vague and generic. "We go here all the time and would recommend it to everyone."

Ideally, you will answer two or more of these questions in your review:

  • Do you regularly go here or use this service often? What do you like best about your experience here?
  • Would you recommend this store, or provider to your friends? Your parents? Other people you know and like? Why?
  • Did you get what you paid for? Did it live up to or exceed your expectations?
  • How does this business compare to other, similar businesses you've done business with in our area?
  • What did you especially like or dislike? Is the product or service good enough that you would wait in line to get it?

Be as specific as you can. Did the food taste fresh? Did the cashier smile at you and help you find what you wanted? Were the restaurant servers prompt and polite? Did the owner go out of his or her way to help you? Did the contractor do what you wanted, on time or ahead of schedule? Did the plumber or mechanic fix the problem right at a fair price? Did the delivery arrive on time?

Please be civil and kind in your comments. If you were less than happy, let us know -- but we will not publish comments that harass, abuse, or threaten another's personal safety or property, make false statements, defame, impersonate someone else, contain profanity, are sexually explicit, illegal or otherwise objectionable. We decide what is and is not acceptable content.

Don't post personal information. Never assume that you are completely anonymous and cannot be identified by your posts. Reviews should not include personal information, such as email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers or credit card numbers belonging to you or others.

Don't post multiple reviews of the same business.

Business owners and their employees may not review their own business.

Don't copy or plagiarize what others have said here or elsewhere. Reviews should reflect your own unique experience and thoughts.

Don't upload HTML, viruses, or other malicious code. Reviews are for text only comments. Please help to protect the Warrenton Favorites network.

Businesses listed in Warrenton Favorites Local are not allowed to post reviews about themselves or other listed businesses.

Example of a Good Review:

Third Street Coffee and Cakes just opened its new store on Main Street in Old Town Warrenton and I am thrilled!

Ever since Earthly Paradise closed its doors, I've missed having a comfy Old Town coffee shop where I can relax, read the paper, and run into old friends.

Regina, the owner, went out of her way to explain the subtle differences among the four coffees she was serving that day. What an eye-opener!

I used to think that "coffee is coffee" and never realized that coffee can be as varied as wine! Regina was very cordial and I felt just like we were old friends, although we'd never met before.

You just don't get this kind of personal attention from Starbucks. The brownies and sour cream coffee cake are out of this world!

Oh, there's also meeting space upstairs that Regina rents out to local groups and businesses, and she has an interesting selection of unique low-priced gifts as well.

Your well-written reviews help everyone who visits this website. We appreciate your feedback. Thank you!
